FAQ - Defensive Driving School

In the fall of 2024, the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) mailed letters to parents who once had an open dependecy and/or severance case.

Did you receive a letter? Visit the DCS letter page for more information.

What information is required to register for a defensive driving class?

  • A governmental ID (example: driver's license, passport)
  • A copy of your ticket, or your citation number if you are participating in an online course
  • An approved method of payment.  If online, a valid credit or debit card.  If attending in person, some schools will require prepayment over the phone.  While others will require you to bring a cashiers check or money order in the correct amount.

If you are unsure about anything, contact the school prior to attending.  You must complete a course at least 7 days BEFORE your scheduled court date.
