FAQ - Small Claims

What is the difference between small claims and a civil case?

Small claims can be used if you are suing for $5,000 or less. There are no attorneys allowed in small claims (unless both sides agree), and there are no appeals in small claims.

If you are suing for less than $10,000, you can file a civil case in justice court.  Attorneys and appeals are allowed in civil claims.
