FAQ - Small Claims

How do I file a mechanic’s lien?

A lien is a legal tool that is used to satisfy debts by attaching to property, it then has to be paid off before the property can be sold to satisfy the payment. A mechanic’s lien is typically used by subcontractors and mechanics who have provided work and have not been paid for their labor, in those cases the laborer may actually have an interest in the property that was worked on, such as a car, and may be able to keep it to satisfy the debt.
