Who is a related person or has a legal interest?
The following are examples of those who are related or have a legal interest in an informal probate matter:
- A surviving spouse
- An adult child, parent, brother, or sister
- An heir of the decedent
- A person named to serve as personal representative in the will
- A personal representative or executor appointed in the state of residence, or a person named by the personal representative from the state
- Any creditor of the decedent (if it has been 45 days or more since the death)
- The office of the County Public Fiduciary
