FAQ - Domestic Violence and Harassment

What if the plaintiff and the defendant are in the process of divorce?

If a protective order was issued by a municipal or a justice court and a petition for dissolution or separation of marriage or a maternity or paternity action is filed in superior court, one of the parties must notify the issuing court immediately. The protective order proceedings then will be transferred to superior court and heard with the family court case.
