What happens at the arraignment?
The process may vary depending on the court. The judge usually sets bail and informs the defendant, the person charged with a crime, of the charges, available rights, consequences of a conviction, and the importance of appearing for scheduled hearings. The defendant enters an initial plea at arraignment, too, typically “guilty” or “not guilty.”
