Basic Steps of a Civil Appeal to the Superior Court

There are ten basic steps for appealing a municipal or justice court ruling to a Superior Court

  1. Receive final order or judgment from a lower court (municipal or justice)
  2. File a Notice of Appeal/Designation of Record
  3. Pay or get fee waiver of the fee/cost bond of the lower court
  4. Pay supersedeas bond (optional)
  5. Order trial records
  6. File Memorandum
  7. Appellee files memorandum
  8.  Pay fees or Superior Court waives/defers them
  9. Present oral argument (if permitted)
  10. Wait for the decision of the Superior Court
